McArthurGlen Designer Outlets

Project overview

McArthurGlen Designer Outlets operates 24 premium outlet centers across Europe, serving major international retail brands including Hugo Boss, Armani, and Nike. The leasing team required an efficient solution to showcase available retail spaces to prospective tenants globally while managing a geographically distributed portfolio.

We created bespoke VirtuView digital mapping solutions for their entire 24-site portfolio, delivering complete 360° navigation with integrated floor plans, custom annotations, and flexible access controls. Starting with a single-site pilot in Roermond during COVID-19, the solution proved so successful that McArthurGlen awarded us their complete portfolio—all 24 centers captured across one summer season.

Challenges & constraints

McArthurGlen’s leasing teams faced significant operational challenges showcasing outlet spaces to major international retailers. Coordinating site visits with CEOs, CFOs, heads of store development, and design teams took 5+ weeks, creating extensive delays and inefficiencies. With 24 centers across Europe, this coordination overhead multiplied costs, delayed deal cycles, and prevented teams from focusing on genuinely interested prospects.

Projects solution

We created bespoke VirtuView digital mapping solutions for McArthurGlen’s entire 24-site European portfolio, featuring complete 360° navigation with integrated floor plans, custom annotations, and secure hosting. Leasing-specific features included unit measurement tools, neighboring tenant context, sightline visualization, and the ability to showcase multiple locations during video calls. This enabled remote pre-qualification, reducing stakeholder alignment from 5+ weeks to 48 hours while focusing physical visits on genuinely interested retailers.

Implementation Approach:

  • Single-site pilot proved concept, leading to full 24-center portfolio award across one summer season
  • Half-day capture per site with flexible scheduling ensured minimal operational disruption during optimal conditions

Multi-Department Value:

  • Facilities teams brief contractors remotely and conduct maintenance planning without unnecessary site visits
  • Management gained portfolio-wide oversight; marketing created customer-facing variants for visitor wayfinding and accessibility
  • 18-24 month refresh cycle established, demonstrating sustained operational value beyond initial implementation
